You should not give any semicolons when you are working with loops.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When working with loops, especially while loops, it&#8217;s vital to understand how to use semicolons correctly. Let&#8217;s start by examining the consequences of improperly placing a semicolon within a while loop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">If I give a semicolon in a while loop, What happens? Usually, beginners make this mistake, they give a semicolon.<\/span><\/p>\n<pre class=\"color-5-text-contrast color5-background-color\" style=\"font-size: 12px; box-shadow: #cecece 0px 0px 0px 0px inset;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\"><span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">int<\/span> main(<span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">void<\/span>)\r\n\r\n{\r\n   <span style=\"color: #008000;\"> uint8_t<\/span> i = 1;\r\n\r\n  <span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">  while<\/span>(i&lt;=10);\r\n    {\r\n      <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">printf<\/span>(\"%d\\n\", i++);\r\n    }\r\n}<\/pre>\n<p class=\"\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you give a semicolon, then it is not a compilation or syntax error, but the compilation will go well. The compiler may warn you, by saying something like <\/span><b><i>&#8220;this &#8216;while&#8217; clause does not guard&#8221;<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but it doesn&#8217;t talk about the semicolon.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">But what happens if you give a semicolon?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Giving semicolons completely changes the logic of your program.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">For example, if I give a semicolon in a while loop, the first code is equivalent to the second code, as shown in Figure 1.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12065\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12065\" style=\"width: 613px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12065 \" src=\"http:\/\/fastbitlab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Figure-2-19-1024x539.png\" alt=\"Figure 2. So, here &#8216;i&#8217; is never incremented. That&#8217;s why, that code becomes an infinite loop, so the control never reaches the printf statement.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Here you can clearly see that giving a semicolon for the while loop actually creates sometimes an infinite loop and it completely destroys your logic. That&#8217;s why to be careful with the semicolon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">You can give semicolons sometimes with the while loop, but you should be aware of what you are trying to do.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take a look at the below program.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 18px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000080;\"><strong>Hangs forever<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<pre class=\"color-5-text-contrast color5-background-color\" style=\"font-size: 12px; box-shadow: #cecece 0px 0px 0px 0px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\"><span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">int<\/span> main(<span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">void<\/span>)\r\n\r\n{\r\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> uint8_t<\/span> i = 1;\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\"> while<\/span>(i&lt;=10);\r\n{\r\n<span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">printf<\/span>(\"%d\\n\", i++);\r\n}\r\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">  \/\/Code hangs forever here. main never returns<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #008000;\">  \/\/Used most of the time in microcontroller programming using 'C'<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">  while<\/span>(1);\r\n}<\/pre>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Here, <\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>while(1);<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&nbsp;<\/span>At this point, the program completely hangs over.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">So here, we have given a semicolon with a while loop. The purpose of this code is to hang the program permanently. The code hangs forever here. So, the main() never returns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">This is actually an infinite loop, because the condition or expression is always true, and you have given a semicolon.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">This is used sometimes in the microcontroller programming using &#8216;C&#8217;. Sometimes in the microcontroller code, we use this statement, that is a while loop with a semicolon to hang the code at the main function.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 25px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #96065a;\"><b><strong>Forever Loop in Embedded Programming<\/strong><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">A special form of the while loop is the forever loop. This is a loop that never ends.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">For example, here this while loop is called the forever loop or super loop, as shown below. In this loop, the condition is always true.<\/span><\/p>\n<pre class=\"color-5-text-contrast color5-background-color\" style=\"font-size: 12px; box-shadow: #cecece 0px 0px 0px 0px inset;\"><span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">int<\/span> main(<span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">void<\/span>)\r\n{ \r\n   <span style=\"color: #339966;\">\/*super loop*\/<\/span>\r\n    <span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">while<\/span>(1) \r\n    { \r\n      readDataSensor();&nbsp; \r\n      processData(); \r\n      displaySensorData();\r\n    }\r\n}<\/pre>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">It executes these [readDataSensor(), processData(), displaySensorData()] a set of statements forever.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">It is common to see this forever loop in an embedded application in the main program. Unlike a PC program, an embedded program may just run forever( or as long as it is powered up).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">We see a super loop or a forever loop in Embedded &#8216;C&#8217; programming.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">In the following post let&#8217;s do one exercise using a while loop.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.8em; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Write a program to print all even numbers between 0 to 100 (including the boundary numbers).&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Also, count and print how many even numbers you find.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Use &#8216;while&#8217; loop, or &#8216;for&#8217; loop, or &#8216;do while&#8217; loop.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Later change the program to accept boundary numbers from the user.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"font-size: 25px; line-height: 40px; border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #96065a;\"><b>Output:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12068\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12068\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12068 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/fastbitlab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/Figure-5-6-1024x260.png\" alt=\"Figure 5.
