The size of a structure type can be determined using the <span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: monospace, monospace;\"><span style=\"background-color: #f2f4f5;\"><b>sizeof<\/b><\/span><\/span> operator in C.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">In this article, we have to do one small experiment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Let&#8217;s use the <span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: monospace, monospace;\"><span style=\"background-color: #f2f4f5;\"><b>sizeof<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span> operator to find out the total memory consumed by our structure variables in this case.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\">I want to find out the memory consumed by carBMW. For that, I use the <span style=\"color: #000000;\"> <span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: monospace, monospace;\"><span style=\"background-color: #f2f4f5;\"><b>sizeof <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span>operator. As I said, it would consume around 14 bytes. Let&#8217;s verify that.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\"> Let&#8217;s execute, and it says that it consumes 16 bytes, as shown in Figure 2. It is showing 2 bytes more. That&#8217;s because of structure padding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Most of the time, you programmer need not worry about structure padding. So, your guess maybe it may consume 4&nbsp; + 1 = 5, or 6.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Let&#8217;s see how much it consumes.
