For SPI, the maximum distance between master and slave is 10 feet or less than that. It also depends on the speed at which the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/fastbitlab.com\/introduction-spi-bus-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SPI bus<\/a><\/span> is communicating between master and slave devices. Speed means the speed of the serial clock (SCLK).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">For example, if the SPI peripheral, that microcontroller is getting 50MHz of a peripheral clock, then the maximum speed of a peripheral clock is 25Mbps. Because the maximum speed of the peripheral clock is divided by 2 (fPCLK\/2) as shown in Figure 1. Hence, SPI works over a shorter distance but at a higher data rate or higher speed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Consider I2C from the Figure 1. Its speed is very, very low compared to SPI, but I2C can communicate with the more significant distance between master and slave devices compare to SPI.
