This whence can be any below three values. SEEK_SET, SEEK_CUR, or SEEK_END.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">You have to use one switch case in your method in order to understand what exactly is whence. If whence is a SEEK_SET, then the file position, the current file position, will be set to the offset, that is, this field. That&#8217;s a meaning of SEEK_SET. Just equate the offset to the current file position. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">How do you get the current file position? <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The current file position is one of the member element of this file object. That&#8217;s why we can dereference, and we can get the file position information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SEEK_CUR means, this(<\/span><b>filp-&gt;f_pos = filp-&gt;f_pos +off<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) is the meaning of SEEK_CUR. You have to update the file position by adding the offset to the current value of the file position. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-size: 18px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is SEEK_END? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That is seek from the end. You should go to the end first. DEV_MEM_SIZE is our device maximum size, and for that, you have to add the offset, that is SEEK_END. But this may not be valid in our case because our device is an array. It has got only 512 bytes.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"border-width: 0px; font-family: 'Roboto Slab'; font-weight: 400; font-size: 17px; line-height: 30px;\" data-font-family=\"Roboto Slab\" data-font-weight=\"400\" data-font-style=\"\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">So, moving beyond that may cause problem. That doesn&#8217;t seem to be practical in our case. You should put appropriate restriction in your code. But, this is a general meaning of what is SEEK_SET, SEEK_CUR, and SEEK_END. You can change this meaning according to your device and your driver&#8217;s implementation.
